Sustainably-Built, Custom Residential Project in Austin, TX

“No Chemicals” and “Reduced LiabilitY” for an Austin-based custom builder

The Muskin Company completed this residential project in Austin, Texas, as part of the Mueller Community.

From the Mueller Community website, “The 700-acre Mueller community, a redevelopment of the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport, is an award-winning, master-planned urban village in central east Austin just three miles from downtown Austin. The community is designed to be a transit-oriented, pedestrian-friendly model of new urbanism and sustainability.

The Muskin Company is one of Austin’s premier homebuilders and has been a listed builder in the Mueller Community.  When asked, “Why Termistops?” Alan Muskin responded, “We liked that there were no chemicals, which reduced our liability considerably.”

Material Comparison -  44 Termistops plus 1 TM Shower Blockout versus 343 gallons of termiticide that would have been applied to the soil.

Image 2—Installed Termistop flange at middle depth of the concrete slab.

Image 3—Armaflex pipe insulation under the slab creates a highway for termite entry.  Termistop flanges physically prevent termites from using the foam to enter the structure.

Termistops are a first step towards a permanent, non-chemical termite barrier.  Termistops use construction science and superior construction-grade materials to create an effective long-term termite solution.

Installed during construction to address the critical areas at the utility penetrations, Termistop makes the perfect start to any termite pre-treatment.
